Richard steer

Richard has a tremendous wealth of experience as an Employment Tribunal advocate.  He has previously worked as a Solicitor-Advocate specialising in Employment Law and recently returned to the Bar to utilise his expertise.


Richard represents both employers and employees at Tribunal Centres across the country, and before the Employment Appeals Tribunal.  He undertakes a panoply of cases ranging from straightforward unfair dismissal to more complicated and lengthy TUPE and discrimination cases.


Having previously worked in a solicitor’s environment he is fully aware of the obligations and busy caseload that solicitors would face in their day to day caseload.  He is able to assist at any stage during the proceedings to ensure the best possible outcome for the case.  Richard’s current / recent caseload includes:



Richard is also instructed regularly by Legal Expenses Insurance Companies.  He is an approachable advocate, who is easily able to digest complex and large amounts of documents.  He has a reputation for being affable, clear and concise in his approach within the Tribunal system.

Training


Richard has regularly provided CPD approved training to a wide range of audiences.  He has provided training to CAB’s and law firms and regular employment law updates as part of the LSC Employment advice scheme.  He has also trained internal shop stewards, HR representatives and Union full time officers on a number of aspects of employment law, ranging from the automatic unfair regulations both original and amended to discrimination law.


Richard has developed his own website richardsteer.com which provides subscribers with free employment law updates, an easy to use compensation calculator, and free case search / legislation facility.
